Hurry up and wait

Yesterday afternoon just after lunch (about 1:30) I talked to AAA (the Other Woman's insurance) and faxed over copies of the police report and the estimate on our car. I was told "Give me a few minutes to look at this, then I'll call you right back." So far so good. On around 4:30 I got tired of waiting and called back.

"Oh, hang on, let me see if that's arrived yet."

It had indeed arrived. It was sitting there waiting for her. She told me she would take a look at it and call me back in the morning. This she did, around 8:45 this morning.

"That's going to be a total, but we want to have our own people come and look at it," she said.

"Fine. What time would you like to come over?"

"Hang on a minute, let me check."
