|No thanks to Airborne...

Smithsonian Craft Show back in April. While I was signing for them, I noticed that Airborne Express had left a rather flat package sitting on our doormat. They hadn't bothered to knock. I know this because the package wasn't there when I got home from lunch and I had been there continuously since then. This package is rather important, because it contains my offer letter and associated other paperwork. It would have been difficult to get it replaced in anything resembling a reasonable amount of time had someone walked off with it.This afternoon there was a knock at the door. It was UPS delivering a couple of glass tumblers Cat and I had ordered at the |
Foo on Airborne. They've done this sort of thing regularly, with some rather expensive packages, and it's sheer luck that we've never had anything disappear.
However, the good news is that I officially have a job now. We'll be moving to New Mexico sometime in July. There appears to be a minimum four-week lead time on getting the movers to come pick up our stuff, so we'll have to jump on the arrangements this week, but that can be arranged.
The waiting is finally over. It's about time.
WOO! Nuts on Airborne and yay to you!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! *throws a parade*
I will not run around like Gail on sugar.
I will not run around crazy like Gail on caffeine.
I will not run around crazy like Gail on crack.
I will not run around crazy like Gail on speed.
I will not run around crazy like Gail on a normal day.
I've already been tempted to do all of the above about a dozen times in the past, oh, ten minutes. I think I'll add a resolution: I will make a list as soon as possible so I can at least appear more organized than Gail when she's running around crazy.
> Foo on Airborne.
Heck no. If I ever had to ship her it'd be by FedUPS.
Congrats! A friend of mine is working at the same place you'll be, and she says it's pretty good. Best of luck there!
Delivery persons failing to ring doorbells is a big peeve of mine. On more than one occasion I've stayed at home all day to wait for an Express Mail package, only to meander out to the mailbox at 3pm or so and find a card saying "you weren't home, so you can pick it up from the PO tomorrow". Mofos.

In a world, WAHOO!
Andy, it's late, and I do have an excuse, but congratulations, I'm very proud to know you and very proud you stuck with this got the degree and the job!! Well done!!
I did have a lookie at your photos of your graduation - you have funky looking, but cool, robes. Does the guy from Harvard have a hat too? See, I'd be stealth PhD with mine - I don't have 3 stripes :) Are the colours for the other graduates the same, or different, if they get another type of degree?
